Getting ready for 4-day in-person class

We all have places where we’re in our BLISS. For John and me, Alaqua Animal Refuge is one of those places. Years ago, we fell in love with Laurie Hood’s manifestation of a vision that started by scooping up about a dozen dogs from their local county (kill) shelter. Now they’re expanding to ONE HUNDRED acres with classrooms, adoption facilities, a cat cafe, dorms and complementary class offerings, all designed to increase the care of the vulnerable animals we humans should be stewarding with love.

Being able to offer Jin Shin Jyutsu to these animals has been beyond rewarding and now we have the honor of TEACHING this Art with our dear friend, mentor and author of Jin Shin Jyutsu for Your Animal Companion.

The days begin with some text book study, self-help to center ourselves, then afternoons are spent practicing what we’ve learned. As the picture on this blog shows, the opportunity to share JSJ with multiple species is fun and exciting!

More than 20 years ago, I was drawn into the profound capacity of this Art to harmonize not only physical challenges, but emotional and other “projects” as well. Teaching human self-help classes all these years has been rewarding and joining Adele’s small cadre of Animal JSJ Faculty has raised the bar of study and practice. Teaching on the white sandy beaches of Destin and at Alaqua are further steps on this magical yellow brick road. There may be no place like home - except when it’s immersed with the animals and this Art at Alaqua Animal Refuge!
